A sort of continuation to my last post.. Lantern festival woudn't be complete without mooncakes a.k.a. YuE BinG . Another name for lantern festival is Monncake festival.. Besides mooncakes, we also had something extra. Pig cakes..?? Bleh ! Name sounds terrible.. Piggie is SO much better. Here they are! Are they not super-duper ADORABLE ??? A pair of pigs.. Female and Male. Female is the one with the RED ribbon. The YELLOW one is the male. Oh look!! They have a guest. The name's Bur . Wil Bur Wilbur is my sis' Pet Pig.. Cute? Cute . That's all! I don't know why, but this year, I suddenly had the urge to play with lanterns during this festival. I used to collect dry leaves, twigs and paper and then gather it together and light it to form a bonfire. This was when I was way younger, before my teens I think. Then, slowly, this passion for lanterns just sort of died of. But now, that passion has been ignited again. I even went all the way to Carrefour just to buy the paper lanterns and candles. And mind you, it really is paper lanterns I am talking about here. Not the battery operated type which is as hard as rock and gives out sounds like mosquitoes having a gathering in your house. Not even the wired animals or bugs which you carry along using sticks. Nope. Just plain , old (rather new) traditional but beautiful paper lanterns. And the view are as below: Ta-da! Using my gua sam ga (place for hanging clothes) to hang lanterns instead.. Is it not ingenious? Just kidding. This is the opposite view... exactly the same gua sam ga...

Ta da! I have finally done something useful and worth talking about during my first two weeks of holidays. I did a transformation, no, not on me, but on a plain wooden photo frame. And the results are as below: This is the top frame, decorated with blue ring beads paired together. This is the bottom frame where I used milky white beads. And this is the side frame where I used glitter dust. I think it's awfully pretty especially if you had seen the frame before these construction works. The work doesn't take too long as long as you have the materials and the concentration to do it. Great activity to do during holidays. Oh yeah, the cost is quite cheap for the beads and stuff. Anyway, the frames are available at IKEA. So, go buy some and let your creativity flow...

Do you know how it feels when everytime exams come, eveything is off limits to you? I mean, like during my study week, I was not supposed to touch the computer, not to play games or go online. (My own doing). Everytime I sit down to study at the table (computer in front of me), my hands itch to touch the mouse or even the keyboard. Urgh! Computer games during this 'perfect time' (duration before exams) are especially 'enticing' (Forgive me if it's the wrong adjective). My heart longs to be with this LCD screen and its coulourful 'nature'. My eyes ache to be glued to its bright and sparkly 'eyes'. Aahhh! And then, here you go telling yourself, "Study girl, study. It's only for three weeks.The computer will still be there, but your exams are only once!!" Then I drag myself, still unwillingly to go and study. I just came back from the Actors' Studio in Bangsar. I didn't expect the studio to be that small but it was real cosy to me. Kind of like a small lecture hall but with cushioned chairs. The rows of seat were so near the stage with only seven rows in front of it. It's like the guy was just right in front of your very eyes. The purpose of this trip was to watch a guy present the Gospel according to St. Luke through his actions and just his words. Nope, he didn't read from the bible. It was rather like he was acting out the parables like in a show. A one man show though. He's one of the actors from broadway. Bruce Kuhn. Man, the way he retold St. luke's gospel was very interesting. Makes it easier to remember what happened and its sequence. During his presentation, he will be kneeling, running, shouting, crouching, doing all sorts of things to represent the different groups of people who were involed in the events. Malaysians are courteous. This is a community message from one of our local radio stations. In this message, they ask us to memorise these four words: Excuse me, Thank you. In my opinion, they left out one other important word: PLEASE. And, you shouldn't just memorise them... Use them! If you remember but don't use it, what's the point? No one will know you are polite except your brain. Why do I say that the word 'please' is important? Imagine someone gritting their teeth, tryng to elbow their way out of a packed train. "Excuse me excuse me." They go, faces scrunched up in frustration. That doesn't seem very nice or polite don't you think. (Not that I don't understand what they're going through. Been there done that, packed trains, you can hardly breathe, human sardines.) BUT, when you add the please word, you tend to say it in a nicer way and your face also gives out a little smile no matter how hard you train your poker face. Please is a ...

It's that time of the year again. Or month, which ever that is... But, no! Not 'that time' of the month. When we, the people are told/encouraged to put up/fly the National flag to show our patriotism. Seriously, does flying the flag mean you're being patriotic? So what about the other times of the year when we don't fly flags? Does it mean we're being unpatriotic? That's what the implication sort of means though. Patriotism doesn't come from flying our national flags, it comes from deep within the heart. What is the use of flying the national flag when we speak bad of our contry to visitng friends? There are surely a lot of other ways which we can show our patriotism. For example, pay our income taxes on time and don't try to evade it. Returning back any loans the government has funded to help us in our studies, like the PTPTN loans.
