How it Started (Sign Language Classes)

Image
Yesterday, was my fourth sign language lesson. Honestly, I have never thought that I would take up sign language classes or even have a remote interest in this subject.  Yet, here I am.  How this came to be? I am not too sure myself. But I suppose you could say that there were a few factors that influenced my decision to take up this class. 1. Awareness When Starbucks Malaysia opened their first signing store in Bangsar, dedicated to employing deaf partners, it was something new to me.  A signing store?  Huh? How does that work? How does one communicate, "One Java Chip, grande size, soy milk, one pump sugar, no whipped cream" by signing? Then the movie, "A Quiet Place" , starring deaf actress Millicent Simmonds was shown in the cinemas. The movie itself was a whole new experience for me, with a majority of the length of the film being played in silence. Even the typical jump scare parts were not really scary as there was no creepy bac...

The Closing of a Chapter... Not.

It's the month of December now. The closing of another year, this time it's 2012. As I prepare to close this chapter of my life, the story I have written for 2012, I actually thought I would be closing another sub-chapter as well. Let's just say that I was very prepared to just sign off at the bottom of the chapter page, "Yours lovingly, Kathleen. The End." And start off with a fresh and clean page with a new chapter title. I was heading in that direction. I felt very tired, I felt drained. I felt like everything I did just didn't seem to be right. I felt I was being a pain in everyone's butt. I gave up and didn't want to give another thought anymore. Everything was crashing down and I felt like I was stuck in a sand pit. Everytime I struggled to get up, or I managed to shake off some sand, more sand was being thrown at me again. I was drowning in that sand pit and when I gulped for air, I swallowed sand instead. So, I ...

Operation Cleanup Room

Yesterday was my off day..! And guess what I did yesterday? (I'm so proud of myself..) Heh. I cleaned up after my messy life. Well, sorta. And one part of it anyway. I cleared up my room! Trust me, my bedroom was in dire need of cleaning. It embarrasses me to say this. Sigh. I used to be a very, very neat person. However, during the last month or so (or earlier than that), I began to be very very unorganized. Threw my clothes on the bed, books were under my bed, and others. At first, I have no idea what brought about that change in me. But after analyzing and talking with people, I finally found out why. Or rather I guessed 'that' was the reason. Ah well. Even my mom commented that my room was very clean and that she wanted to dirty it up again for me. Huh. Charlene, who shares the room with me got lucky. Cause I  cleaned up the entire room. Duh. You can't expect me to clear only my side of the room right? That's downright stupid. And selfish. And yes, sh...

Can I Do It?

I am sick. Not only physically but also sick/tired of what is going on. I can be said to be a perfectionist. Maybe a tad too much. :P My stupid final year project has caused me headaches, sore throat and slight fever. On top of that, I also have to study for a miserable subject. (Dr. T la!) Sometimes I wonder how my seniors make it through. Just when I feel like curling up and cry, another voice sounds in my ears. Final year project only ma... Very hard meh? One subject to study... Are you that incapable till you cannot handle? Cry... is your project going to be settled automatically by itself? If your seniors can do it, you can also do it wert. After all, we're all humans without much physical disablities. Eyes, ears, mouth, limbs and other stuff. We have it. So what's stopping us? Well, if my seniors can make it through, then I definitely can make it through as well .
