Image
Sorry been missing quite a while. Here's what has been happening! Exams are finally over and I am officially done with five trimesters of my studies... Whooppee!! Now, I only have one more trimester to go. You can do it Kathleen.Go kick some arse. Here's what some of us did to celebrate the end of exams. Crazy spontaneous trip. Genting's cool glow in the dark bowling alley We went up to Genting for a while. "A while" as in we left at 4pm sth and came down at 8pm sth... The shortest Genting trip ever in my life. I want to stay the night next time please. :) We got lost... hahahaha had to make a u turn near Taman Melati and get back on the proper track. The other car reached first and had to wait again for us as we could not find the parking entrance into One World hotel. The renovation up there is a mess! Well, we basically just hanged out in the casino. Some of them wanted to play, finance people ma, the rest of us just walked around, took ...

An Email and a Talk

Image
You know how sometimes you give people feedback through emails or reply them and you don't hear anything from them? Then you begin to wonder if anybody even looks at their emails or not. Well, my fellow ex-Utarians, wonder no more. The UTAR Alumni does read theirs. And I thought they would not even bother to reply me. Hahaha.      What happened was, the UTAR Alumni would always send out emails to the alumni informing us of any upcoming events or talks that are held in the centre.      I began to notice that the emails regarding the talks, always reaches my inbox late. It's not a big thing. I could say, I don't care, it's not my problem. But I found it weird that the emails reached me after the talk has been gone and done with. Then you ask yourself, what's the point of the emails then? After a few times, I sent the email below to our Alumni. And yes, I know. It's supposed to be "a computer generated email" and not a...

I Can't Study.

I cannot study. And I don't think that I'm the only one. Everytime I have this itch to FB... Which is so darn irritating!!! I won't die if I don't but my Farmtown crops most probably will..hahah. Huh. The freakin' weather is another darn annoying thing. It's so hot that all I feel like doing is to just sleep. Day and night. Sleep. That's all I'm doing now and all I'll ever do when I am six feet under!! Better do something about it. Coffee... Milkshake... Jumping around! Anything!! I so have to get back to studying. Motivation: To pass all and enjoy my holidays!!! All the best people!

Explosion

Yea... I've been really busy till my blog is stagnant and mosquitoes are laying eggs in it. Huh. Hahaha. Don't mind me. Had a bad day today. I'm doing Soxhlet extraction as part of my practical for final year project, which requires a heating mantle, and also condenser. Care has to be taken that our solvent in the flask does not dry up lest the thing explodes as it is super hot. This is exactly what happened in the lab today. My extractor exploded in front of my project mate. Thank God she wasn't hurt. Summary: Water was everywhere, oil was everywhere and broken glass pieces were there to greet me as well. The stench coming from our exploded stuff was so unbearable till the chemistry students had to move labs. Sorry!!! But I strongly feel that it is none of our fault as both our flasks still had solvent in it so we have no idea why it exploded. Sigh. In the end, we have to clean up lo...hahaha. Took mops and pails from the 'kakak' downstairs. She saw her p...

Lost Things

I'm feeling down today. Sad, tired, dull. Just feel like sitting down and stare into space. I lost two things in the space of just two days. Yesterday, I lost my umbrella as I placed it in the canteen when I went to have my lunch. And I totally forgot about it when I left!!! So now, I have no idea where it is. Whether the cleaning lady took it, the noodle soup seller aunty took it or even some desperate students who were stuck in the canteen and couldn't get back to the lab. "Ayo, raining la. How to get across?" Looks round. "Eh," Nudges friend, "there got umbrella leh. Looks like it's still functioning. No one's around. Should we take it?" "Hmm.. take only la.. Its' here for us. Maybe it's a free gift." "I'll keep it afterwards, can save for other rainy days after today." *Evil snickers as my umbrella is whisked away, never to be seen with me again.* *Wah!!! Cry...* Today, I lost my magnetic brac...

Today's Lab

I was supposed to blog about something funnier and more personal. That will come later as I want to blog about something else. Personal and maddening. Went for counselling today. Have trouble controling my feelings. Feel like I want to kick people the whole day today. Not. Hahaha. Just kidding la! My opinion of a guy has gone down the drain today. Washed. You want to say foul words, say it among your guy friends or wth even with your gf. Don't say it in front of other girls, especially after they so kind-heartedly helped you out. You dungu!! So rude for what? Dak zhui lei meh? She was just helping you out ok? Voluntarily! Unless your puny brain cannot comprehend that message! And she was busy herself! How dare you talk back to her so rudely?! And hurt my friend? Whole mouth full of garbage!! Literally! Even if you're stressed, do you have to take it out on other people? And we don't even know you that much. (As if we want to know you also...) Ha! Yea, we ...

Alcohol Down the Drain

I have started my industrial training . During the last week, I was put in charge of some machine called rotary evaporator and my job was to get the mangosteen skin extract . The mangosteen skins were first soaked in methanol (an alcohol) for days, filtered for the liquid and then only is it poured into the evaporator machine to get the extract. In this machine, the methanol will evaporate and later condense into another beaker. The methanol after this is useless thus it is thrown away. While I was doing this process, I asked my supervisor where I should dispose of the methanol because it is obvious you can't just throw it into the sink. She said. "Sink." Oh, I thought to myself. Perhaps they do it differently in here. So I followed and happily just poured the methanol down the sin k next to me. I did that last Friday. Today, as I was going to dispose of another batch of methanol down the sink again, my supervisor saw me and asked, "That's methanol...

Blood Donation

This is about what happened when I donated blood just this Wednesday. I am no regular donor, in fact it was my first time because I am damn scared of needles and injections!! Ever since young, I always gave problems when it came to getting injections be it BCG or Tetanus.. whatever. I used to cry a lot, my doctor scolded me once. He said, "I have not even poked you yet with the needle and here you are crying already!!" Sorree .. I can't help it okay? Thank God I didn't cry in form 3 and standard 6! Would be way embarrassing ! So, I have no idea from where this courage of mine came from, which made me want to go and donate my blood! It's like sending myself to the slaughterhouse! I suppose the presence of my friends there posed as a catalyst which really pulled me to this donating thing. I am glad that I did it though. Because, I have finally been able to gather up my courage and face my fear. Proud of myself!! *laughs heartily* Oh yeah, I didn't don...
