Mount Kinabalu: Things to Get for Your Trip

Image
Well, hello! I am going to be a good samaritan and share with you MY advice on what and what not to pack if any of you out there are planning a trip to conquer Mount Kinabalu. 2012 seems to be the year.... hmm... Please don't be a blur sotong and procrastinator like me. I only started packing the weekend before I was due to fly. -.-'. That's why le. No. 1: Get a tracking pole , tongkat la in other words. you won't regret it. I certainly didn't though I didn't want to at first. You can rent one at the Kinabalu Park for RM 10 or buy one for RM 19.90. I bought mine at Tongs' Traveller Suite , Suria Sabah. (Psst... I can lend it to you for RM 10 too! Hahaha.) Oh, by the way, our tour guide said that Suria Sabah is like Suria KLCC. But I didn't see it. The mall was empty. Fine, it was empty at 11am. Suria KLCC would be teeming with life though. The Stick of Life... No. 2: All climbers would be telling you the same thing. Get Adida...

A Kinabalu Experience 1

Argh... I wanted to blog about this earlier.. but I was so tired I didn't have the energy. I am back from conquering Mount Kinabalu!!! Hahahaha. Man, it took me a whole week for my leg muscles to recover. I have no photos to show you all. Didn't bring any camera, but we had 4 DSLRs in the group, so I will just have to 'tumpang' my pics from them. :) To make my long story short, (I prefer telling this in person, with all my gestures and over the top facial expressions, bwahahaha.) I'll just highlight the moments of my trip (or our trip, for Jenny and KT). I overworked my leg muscles, to the extent, my mountain guide had to carry me down the last 1.5km to Timpohon gate, after which my tour guide took over the job. Sigh. I was actually very frustrated because I wanted so badly to complete the whole trip, up and down, on my own. Not being carried around... But I was suffering badly, every step down was a torture. Thanks a lot KT, Jenny and the...

Scared...

I lost my courage. That text made my heart drop. Suddenly, I don't feel so brave anymore. I really feel scared. What if I cannot do it? IT seems very real now. Fees are paid, logistics are all prepared. It's only three months away. But I got this panic attack out of the blue. I am just suddenly scared...

Kinabalu Training 1

Image
Well, what can I say? I am awesome.... Hahaha. Just kidding. Thanks to Jenny and Tee, I have started my training for the climb up mount Kinabalu. Been to Gasing hill twice in three weeks. Didn't procrastinate lalala *does a little vicotry dance* Hehe. :P Went jogging as well during these three weeks. Another jogging session planned tomorrow, provided my legs don't hurt from the training today. The first session up Gasing hill left me walking like an old woman on Chinese New Year's eve. My leg muscles were sore!! That's the result of being too sedentary... huh. I find it odd though since I walk up and down the stairs a few times a day, in shoes in heels, yet I was still sore. The community of people who go to Gasing hill are kinda unique. Not all of them but a majority. We greet each other good morning when we walk pass each other. Sometimes in the quiet of the hills as we struggle to go up, you can hear people conversing about so many topics. Today, I heard some ab...
