WYD2011 August 15

Image
August 15. The day when we prepared to head off to our respective lodgings for the WYD2011 event.  Before that, my very first mass in a Spanish church. Wah... Feast of Assumption. (Mary goes up into Heaven.) It was a bit sad lo. Have you any idea who were the majority people in the church? OLD LADIES!! All white haired and frail looking. It was something that opened up our eyes.  One version of Mother Mary.. I like this one. :)  Jesus in the middle with a child and the two saints beside Him. Thank goodness we still have churches in Malaysia with statues like this. (Btw, just to clarify it in here, Catholics do not worship statues.) It just there to remind us.  The ceiling of the church... The lighting is awesome!  How the church looks like from the outside.. Looks like some ordinary brick building huh?  I am imagining my grandpa sitting there and me, with my arms lovingly around his neck and shoulders. :) The beautiful beautiful park...! ...

Hola...!

Hola!! I'm back! Hahaha. I still haven't slept off my jetlag... I'm suffering from it! And I thought I was young. Eesh. Well, what can I say? The last two weeks in Madrid was absolutely amazing. Words cannot be used to describe it. I am actually very blessed to have participated in this event. Recalling the earlier part of the year, I was quite close to withdrawing my participation as I felt that I could not commit to the monthly retreats, outings and fund raising activities. It would not be fair I thought. I am SO SO glad that I decided to go on with it after battling with several issues in my head. I suppose things just fell through in the end. :) I went to WYD2011 with an open heart and mind. I really did not know what to expect. What I experienced was really superb. Imagine, 1.5 million people from across all continents, different languages, cultures gather together in the same place for one purpose and with one thing in common. For God. I have never realized the sh...

Off I Go....

Will be flying off tomorrow!! Can't wait. *jumps around with excitement* A long awaited trip... Please do keep me in your prayers and pray for me and the rest of us who are going, for a safe trip there and of course, a safe trip back home again. So I can see you all again ma... lol. Unless you all don't want to see me, then it's ok! Will be missing for a while. Don't think I'm going to get access to a laptop or a computer either. I'll be too busy with all the activities planned! Yay! Just be good, ok, people? :) Yours sincerely, Love, Kath.

Madrid 101: Shower facilities at WYD

Image
Was just checking up the website for WYD2011. I knew we had to pack bathing suits because we aren't getting any luxurious shower facilities there. A million people wor... But look-y here what I just found out.... Oh. My. Gosh.

The Triple H Summary

Image
A summary of the has happened, happening and going to happen. Heh. Has happened Participated in my first run (or walk or jog, at the rate I was going). Shape Run 2011! My colleagues and I went more for the goodie bags I think. Hahaha. We entered ourselves in the fun run category. It was... fun! We even stopped halfway to take pictures with the Putrajaya bridge... Crazy kan? Then when we saw the runners behind us dwindling in numbers, we sped up again. ROFL. Fail sial. Kiasu but still want to take pics. Pfftt... Too bad Tee couldn't make it, if not we could meet up as well. :) We saw Hunny Madu from 8TV and a guy from fly.fm too! Went for the WYD weekend retreat in APC, KL. Thank God the date was changed. If not, we'd be caught in the Bersih rally chaos as well. I got to meet and know new people, got reacquainted with old friends and... for the first time in my life, I really felt the presence of God. This is going to be theological so I won't go too much into it. Let...

It's a Man Thing

"It's a man thing." Matt said. And that sparked off a debate of male ego. Lol. Was having breakfast with my godpa and godbrothers after church, when I (the only girl present) proceeded to take the bill and pay for the meal. I just wanted to treat them but that was an unthinkable and a definite no-no action on my behalf. (I honestly didn't know.) Immediately, my godpa literally snatched the bill out of my hand, saying, "No, Kathleen." Matt jokingly added, "You think we cannot pay for ourselves is it?" I said, "No, I just wanted to treat you guys since you always pay for my sister's meal." All the guys objected, saying that it was ok. I asked why. The answer is this post's title. My ignorant action then started this talk about this race of people from the planet of Mars and their egos. Ooppss... And the sexist talk. Huh. From the gist of our talk, I got this message. When a guy offers to pay or pays for something, neve...

Half the Year has Gone...

Time does indeed fly... It's already the second half of the year 2011. In a blink of an eye, 2011 will be over and 2012 will be right in front of your very eyes. Half the year has gone. What have I achieved? My new year's resolutions were this: - Be more streetsmart, less gullible and less naive. (Does this count?) - Be smarter and more efficient in whatever I do. - Say less stupid stuff... I seem to say a lot of that. Sigh. Have I been more streetsmart? I hope. Well, at least I roughly know what to do in situations, theoretically. On the practical side, one can never predict. Have I been smarter/efficient? Not up to my expectations or my benchmark yet. I will only be satisfied when I actually do something impressive. Trying... still trying. Have I said less stupid stuff? Nope. Still the same. Open own mouth, put foot in. All the time. Urgh... I "inhale" at resolutions. I have 6 more months to do it. Try Kath, try. Speaking of which, by the end of this mont...
