Valentine's Day

I actually wanted to continue with the second post of the 30 day thingie. I just don't feel like it though. Too many movies... my head cannot sift through. Pathetic.

Tomorrow's Valentine's day!!!
All the singles will be out to jingle and mingle.
And the couples out to create more trouble.
Lol. Just kidding. :)

I remember I made a dare or a bet with someone. To see who would get married first, since that person was always 'shooting' me. KT, KT. Hahaha. I made a wrong one. I should have instead made a bet that my sister would get married before him.

Yea, anyway, I think I may lose this bet to him. Huh!

All of a sudden, Valentine's day is in a bad spotlight. Certain groups of people have condemned its celebrations and have especially discouraged it among their people. According to them, Valentine's day is associated with Christianity.

First of all, Valentine's day is NOT a Christian event or celebration no matter what some people may think. Never in my 25 years of life of being a Christian have I ever heard of Valentine's day being celebrated in church. Not in the Catholic church and neither in the other denominations like Lutheran, Anglican, Methodists etc.There's nothing Christian-y about it!

Yes, if you search about it, 14th February was a feast day dedicated to a Valentine. But, this memorial has since been removed from the Roman liturgical calendar in 1969! Valentine's day is not a religious festival!!! It is just celebrated very much within the secular culture.

Like (excuse the language) *in a British accent (think Ron Weasley)* Bloody Hell...!

How can certain people simply insinuate that V-Day has "some Christian elements and sin"?

The knowledge of other religions are so shallow because all we were ever taught in school during history lessons was about one religion. Five to six chapters of it. Is it any wonder why some people do not know about the religion or cultures of other people?

I myself do not know much about Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism or even Sikhism. When I was younger, I thought that Indians were all Hindus and Chinese were all Buddhists. You see how bad it was? (Or maybe I was the only one....)

How are we to achieve 1Malaysia?

Getting out of topic. That would be another day. (I seem to postpone a lot... That "inhales"!)

On a lighter note, Happy Valentine's Day to all. It's not wrong to show love to your loved ones. Of course, not only on this day la... everyday!!!

P/S: Not a Valentine's Day post that some would have expected. Hahaha.

Of Vampires and Werewolves

I've never really been an ardent fan of the Twilight series(boo...says you). And I have no idea why some girls go gaga over Edward the vampire. He looks so paste-y with the bloodshot eyes (yea yea he's supposed to look that way). And bleah! I think he looked way hotter in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as Cedric Diggory . That, I can go gaga. But in Twilight??? The romance between Edward and Bella is fine. Romantic, mushy and cliched. Heh. But there's nothing much for me to shout about. (Sorry to the ardent fans, esp to my three sisters. Ha.) This year, the next sequel in this series is about to be released tentatively in November. Known as New Moon , the title is definitely appropriate since the werewolves play a bigger role this time. I didn't read any of the books in the Twilight series though my sisters finished the whole lot of it. So there's no doubt I have no idea of what's going on in the next book. My Future???

After thinking for a while, (ok, not a while but many whiles) I have finally decided what to do after I graduate (hopefully) in May this year. I have narrowed it down to two options. Sigh. Either I continue my studies and proceed wtih Masters (God, help me..) or I apply for this work and travel thing to US for six months. Will see how it goes... see which comes first. If it's the latter, I'd most probably miss my Convocation. If the former is first, the latter will no longer be on my list. We'll see we'll see. :) P/S: Applying for masters has nothing to do with what the government has allocated to help the economy.
