Goodbye 2008

A quick recap of the year 2008 before it bids us goodbye forever!!! As is tradition, click here and here for 2006 and 2007 respectively. January : My birthday! And had a 'surprise' for me by my uni friends during our steamboat dinner. (Thank you!) Went to the Curve with CY and Chian for TGIFs! February : CNY eve fell on the same day as Ash Wednesday (A day where Catholics are to fast and abstain from meat. So how?) We replaced it with another day officially lo. :) March : Easter!! And also the month where I fell sick (food poisoning) and had to skip my genetic tutorial and MB lecture... hahaha. April : Exams again.. and genetics really killed me... but results were ok. Thank God!! May : My first overseas trip!! To the US! A very wonderful and certainly an eye-opening experience. :D Thank you mom and dad!! Hey, I paid for my food and other other stuff though. Haha. June : Went to Genting and experienced my first step in a real casino surrounding. Felt like a katak di bawah tem
Listening to sad songs definitely does not help with one's mood. Perhaps cause the weekend is over. And tomorrow I have to go back to the lab. Perhaps I feel scared and uncertain... of many things. Especially the new year 2009. Perhaps it's because this coming Christmas will be the first of "many firsts". Many firsts that evoke both sad and joyful memories. But mostly sad ones. Yet, Christmas is also a time when we get to meet up with friends and family whom we rarely see. That is something to look forward to. :) The first Christmas where the person I love will not be there to celebrate with me. Anymore. The first Christmas where some changes are bound (and already) to happen yet I am desperately clinging on to the old, the familiar. I do not want to let go. A lot of things have been wanting to be said. But cannot be said. For fear of a lot of things. Don't we all? Watched Twilight yet? The plot is ok I suppose. But there is a song in the show which can reall

Randomness

I will update as soon as I can. My darling little blog.... hahaha. Anyway... recent going ons: - Sat for my last exam paper of the year on Wed. And.. let's not talk anymore about it. - Just had a major stomachache. Went to toilet. - Had the Alien doughnut from Big Apple. Yums! - Found that a small rat died in a wasted effort for a FYP. It died because it inhaled too much chloroform. It's not supposed to die!!! - Realised that I have a good projectmate whom I am compatible with. Thank you! - Frustrated that UTAR is stingy in buying chemicals and equipments and whatnots we need for our projects. Hel-lo?!! There are three chemical tests I can't perform cause of this. Sigh. - Realised that I am not a very vocal person. It's true!!! And...... huh? What? Oh! It's way past my bedtime. Night. :D

Church in Kuta, Bali Island.

Image
I went to Bali, Indonesia from 15th to 18th of October. For more on the trip, click here . Anyone planning to go there can definitely find out a lot from my friend Jenny's post. She's provided a lot of information, like the costs involved and of course, beautiful pictures. Both of us went for a holiday trip there along with three others. Besides promoting the Island as a holiday paradise, so they say, I'm here to also provide information for Catholics who intend to visit Bali and would like to see the churches there and maybe go for mass. But I only saw one church. Sorry. During our stay in Bali, we stayed at this place, Febri's Hotel and Spa . And believe it or not, haha, I was actually quite happy about it, that a Catholic church was just within walking distance from our hotel. What a great surprise! I don't know about other people, but whenever I am in a foreign place and I see a Catholic/Christian church, either when we pass by or not, I always feel very happy

Explosion

Yea... I've been really busy till my blog is stagnant and mosquitoes are laying eggs in it. Huh. Hahaha. Don't mind me. Had a bad day today. I'm doing Soxhlet extraction as part of my practical for final year project, which requires a heating mantle, and also condenser. Care has to be taken that our solvent in the flask does not dry up lest the thing explodes as it is super hot. This is exactly what happened in the lab today. My extractor exploded in front of my project mate. Thank God she wasn't hurt. Summary: Water was everywhere, oil was everywhere and broken glass pieces were there to greet me as well. The stench coming from our exploded stuff was so unbearable till the chemistry students had to move labs. Sorry!!! But I strongly feel that it is none of our fault as both our flasks still had solvent in it so we have no idea why it exploded. Sigh. In the end, we have to clean up lo...hahaha. Took mops and pails from the 'kakak' downstairs. She saw her p

Lost Things

I'm feeling down today. Sad, tired, dull. Just feel like sitting down and stare into space. I lost two things in the space of just two days. Yesterday, I lost my umbrella as I placed it in the canteen when I went to have my lunch. And I totally forgot about it when I left!!! So now, I have no idea where it is. Whether the cleaning lady took it, the noodle soup seller aunty took it or even some desperate students who were stuck in the canteen and couldn't get back to the lab. "Ayo, raining la. How to get across?" Looks round. "Eh," Nudges friend, "there got umbrella leh. Looks like it's still functioning. No one's around. Should we take it?" "Hmm.. take only la.. Its' here for us. Maybe it's a free gift." "I'll keep it afterwards, can save for other rainy days after today." *Evil snickers as my umbrella is whisked away, never to be seen with me again.* *Wah!!! Cry...* Today, I lost my magnetic brac

Pink Ribbon

Image
The Pink Ribbon/Passionately Pink event was held in Jaya One (Groud Floor) near Utar PJ campus recently. Actually it was quite a while, haha. But the gallery is still open where we can admire/criticise the pink rubber ducks which were self-decorated by various local artistes including the likes of Sarimah Ibrahim, Daphne Iking even Amber Chia. I was there with my three sisters where we only had the intention of eating at Wendy's, then we decided to walk around for a bit and came across the gallery. So, being busybodies and since Eileen's a pink maniac, we went in to have a look. The ducks were cute! Unfortunately we didn't bring any cameras so no pics. But we did buy one pink rubber duck of our own as the proceeds went to charity for breast cancer (Sth like that.) RM10 per duck . Quite ok lo. Haha. Here is our duck. Original. No additives, preservatives, colourings and what nots. Hahaha. This is what's written at the bottom of our duck! I super like the pun! Pink

Can I Do It?

I am sick. Not only physically but also sick/tired of what is going on. I can be said to be a perfectionist. Maybe a tad too much. :P My stupid final year project has caused me headaches, sore throat and slight fever. On top of that, I also have to study for a miserable subject. (Dr. T la!) Sometimes I wonder how my seniors make it through. Just when I feel like curling up and cry, another voice sounds in my ears. Final year project only ma... Very hard meh? One subject to study... Are you that incapable till you cannot handle? Cry... is your project going to be settled automatically by itself? If your seniors can do it, you can also do it wert. After all, we're all humans without much physical disablities. Eyes, ears, mouth, limbs and other stuff. We have it. So what's stopping us? Well, if my seniors can make it through, then I definitely can make it through as well .

Those Form Six Days

My form six days were really great. So many fun and unexpected memories. Of course, not saying that my other years were full of sorrow, just that my form six days sticks in my mind more vividly. I remember the day when ST scared me with a cockroach. We were having biology class in the lab and she decided to play a trick on me. She said in a serious tone of voice, "There's a cockroach underneath our bench!" I am scared of cockroaches. So I screamed and jumped off my stool , scaring the whole class into a silent shock. Even our biology teacher was shocked and her eyes were so big staring at me and my other friends, who had recover from the shock of my scream and were laughing away. I apologised profusely. Stupid cockroach was a dead one. Needless to say, I was quite embarrassed after that. I remember the day when I cried during biology lab , when we were required to dissect mice. The unlucky mouse I had chosen was pregnant! I felt so sad for it. The foetuses could be seen j

Sex before Marriage

Warning: May cause some disagreements. Don't read. Don't have pre-marital sex. Ever!! Why? Why do I feel so strongly about this?? Smoke yourself dead and drink yourself drunk, all you want. I don't care. (Maybe a bit) But say No, TAK NAK and Bu Yao to pre-marital sex. An analogy. Take a piece of masking tape and stick it on yourself first. Peel it off and stick it on another person. Peel it off and repeat the steps for four more people. What can you observe about the masking tape after that? It gets DIRTIER and LESS STICKY. You are the masking tape. The people whom the tape gets stuck on are your sex partners. The stickiness is the bond between you and your partner. As you have sex with more people, the bond between you and that person becomes less. You no longer see that person as a person, rather a tool for your sexual tension release. Sex IS a beautiful thing. But because of irresponsible people and media, it becomes dirty. A thing looked upon as taboo and something disg

I Lost my Touch 'N' Go Card

I lost my Touch 'N' Go card!!! *Sniff* Cham lo... my fault for putting it in my jean's back pocket!! What was I thinking!! So mad at myself. Stupid thing to do. Remind me to never do that again. To take care of all my belongings when aboard any public transport. Even though I've been extremely careful already. Apparently it's not ENOUGH! I either dropped the card as I tried to enter the sardine-packed train or someone snitched it off my butt since it's so crowded and everyone's practically touching everyone. That piece of plastic thing contains RM 50 ++ credit worth ok?!! Crap lot of money in there... :'( AARRRGGHHH!!! *Bangs head on the wall* Poo!!! *Faints from the intense pain on my head*
